This week I am thinking about...

Quality. Back in the day, my husband bought a beautiful, expensive handbag for me. I promptly went and spilled an entire bottle of water in it. It wrecked the bag. A huge water stain marred one side of the épi leather. I was so ashamed. I hid the bag. Then he wondered why I didn't use it. So I brought it out and turned it to the other side when I carried it around him. This is a Furies foundational story. Because we wanted to make bags that could withstand a little abuse. And weren't so expensive that you would freak out if you spilled a bottle of water in it. This week I did the same exact thing, just in my cognac Talitha. You would think I'd have learned not to carry around bottles of water, but my handbag is my backpack is my life. I throw everything in there, I overstuff it and drop it everywhere. Our bags are 100% full grain leather that should look the same in 10 years that they do today, albeit a little softer and more buttery with use. We use thicker thread for our stitching which should hold for a good long time. And our zippers are dipped to keep them gliding and looking the same over time. So my cognac Talitha is currently drying in the sun. The water did not bleed through to the outside, and the color is not seeping out of the bag. And I am thinking about quality.
